Good tip, Mark. These days with the superfast SSD's, the boot process is lightning fast. If you don't know for sure the correct key to get into the BIOS you may never see it go by.

This reminded me that I once had a user who did not like us doing any maintenance on his machine so he went in and password protected his BIOS. About 2 weeks went by and he came into the IT office complaining that he could not get into his machine's BIOS to do something. I went out and fixed it for him. Never had anymore issues with him. I never told him that I went in and changed his password to mine.

Good story!

Hi Mark....I tried your instructions (several times) but they did not work for my Acer.
I did however find a video on YouTube and I hope you don't mind if I post it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSsVzQo9qoU
This video is very clear and easy to do. My version of Win10 is one of the earlier test versions so maybe that's the difference.
Thanks for bringing this subject up. I had not given it any thought before.

Hi Jack,
I appreciate the feedback and surprised it does not work on your PC. The video you posted will work, providing one has access to Windows. The method I posted is in case one cannot boot to the Win 10 OS and needs to boot to a USB device that contains rescue media. Acessing BIOS will enable booting to the flash drive.
Thanks,
Mark
