These are two stitched panos - first is of the upper falls, 3 images, camera in portrait orientation D800, Nikkor 45mm F2.8 PC-E, F11, 1/2 sec,ISO 100. The camera was on a tripod and the component images were accomplished by shifting the lens to the right extreme, center and left extreme.
The second image was four frames and I used the same shift technique, except that for the middle two images I rotated the camera by half the width of one frame. D800, Nikkor 45mm F2.8 PC-E, F13, 1 sec, ISO 64. You can see the upper falls in the top left corner.
The last image was 5 frames, similar technique to above, D800, Nikkor 45mm F2.8 PC-E, F13, 1/2 sec, ISO 50.
This is an interesting set of falls in that creek originates at a lake (pond actually), a couple of miles away, and it is one of the few falls that empty onto a beach. This type of waterfall is called a Tidal Fall.
The last image is a long shot from the north, showing both the pond and the waterfall.
And yes, the final scramble down the rock face is as precipitous as it looks. About a 45 ft sheer drop if I remember correctly. The rest of the trail is just as steep, and before you get to the crumbly sandstone cliffs the trail goes for a half a mile through a forest of poison oak. What we photographers go through to "get the shot" . . .
I like these quite a lot. Wonderful three dimensional quality—especially the first. I like the second for the way the water flows through from upper left to lower right. Well executed.

Thanks!
That PC-E lens is particularly sharp, and the lighting was perfect without harsh shadows and bright, sunlit areas. I couldn't have asked for a better situation.
My goal in the Panorama section is to try and get readers to think of pano stitching as more than creating a wide, narrow strip. I strive for context in each photo I post, usually by including some foreground and background/sky in the image.
Beautifully done, Gene. Thanks for the detailed explanation.
Mike
Excellent. Really like the detail, lightning, and natural looking focal length you produced with your 45 PC-E using stitched Verticals.
Outstanding images in my book. But then I enjoy the silky look in waterfall images. Thanks for sharing. Simply beautiful.
