You are correct in that the Sony Pano feature is only available as a .jpg output. The other drawback is the exposure parameters are set before the image is started and can not be changed. You have to decide what you want exposed correctly and, as in this case, some things just don't fall into the area of proper exposure. But, the advantages of being able to do a pano with no PP "stiching", IMHO out weighs the lack of a RAW image. Thanks to all for the comments.
