I have several software editing programs (11) that show up on PS under "File> Automate" that are either expired, superseded by newer versions or not being used. How can I remove them from Photoshop?

Will removing them from my download files on the computer automatically remove them from PS?

My computer is an Apple and I use PS CC.

Thanks for your help.

You might remove the ones you no longer use or have expired. I believe PS looks through directories when it starts, recognizes image editing files and lists those, as you've noted. Besides, if you are no longer using an application for whatever reason, it's best to remove it and free up the drive space.

Thanks Bob. The question is specifically how to remove them. Right clicking doesn't do anything. I would love to remove them :)

I’m not positive ( you could google ‘how to remove programs from Apple computer ‘). But I think you drag it from application s to the trash.

I have deleted unused apps by dragging and dropping to the trash on our iMac several times. Just empty the trash afterwards. I've not incurred any problems when doing this. I most recently used this method when a downloaded app was not being recognized. So I drug it to trash and redownloaded the app and all worked fine. Good luck

You're welcome. Just as pesfls stated, find the application in "Finder" and drag it to the trash. You should be able to right click on it and have a menu of items you can perform appear. Move to Trash is one of them. Once in the Trash, you should be able to right-click and Empty Trash.

I was able to move the App to the trash from Finder- but it did not remove it from Photoshop even though I quit PS, emptied the trash and re-opened PS. And I even went to the downloads and deleted one of the installed programs from there and still it remains on PS. Hmm, wonder if the computer needs to be turned off and then on. I will keep working with it.

Since you have an Adobe account to use "cc" I suppose you could delete all versions of PS and reload the latest via your account login. Might be playing with fire though, I don't know for certain so that might be overkill. I had to do this with Luminar before but it's not an Adobe product. Perhaps Adobe has a tutorial on this on their site. They have tons of them but never looked for this subject. Like you thought it can't hurt to shut down & see what you get first. Good luck.

Actually what I am trying to delete are the old OnOne software programs. Maybe it is OnOne that I need to contact. I appreciate your suggestions. Oh I see what you are saying. Reloading an updated PS CC might eliminate all the OnOne files. That sounds like a lot of work Lol! Guess I have to figure out how much it is bothering me to have them there.

I just looked out of curiosity. Go the the On1 help desk site. There's uninstall instructions there.

I remember removing a program from my G5 power Mac,it did require all parts of the program be manually removed from at least 3 different places on the computer,to the trash bin then the bin emptied.
I'M not on my iMac right now and won't be until later tomorrow evening. However you should be able to find out using the help menu.

Here is a page at adobe . com that answers your question.
The path to the list of Plug-ins that Photoshop displays is: Hard Drive/Applications/[Photoshop version]/Plug-in on a Mac. Drag the one you no longer want to your desktop temporarily and start or re-start Photoshop and it should no longer display. Then either Trash it or save it if you think you might need it again.

The Plug-ins folder has the part of the Plugin that tells Photoshop where to find the "helper" application (the part you already Trashed from your Applications folder) and probably information on how you set its preferences.
