Nice video; layout incredible😄. I am a model railroad hobbyist, but nowhere near that league. As a model rr enthusius, my first interest on viewing a layout is the scale. I have not managed to use sound effectively on my iPad, so did not hear if the scale was mentioned. However, in seeing the size of the cars when viewed next to the owner it’s apparent that the scale is “O” (for those not in the hobby think Lionel). I did notice that the track is two-rail. Traditional “O” gauge track is 3-rail. So, he went for the ultimate track realism. For those who understand electricity, 2-rail layouts are more difficult to wire in certain situations such as reversing loops. 3-rail wiring is a piece of cake re reversing loops and other electrical automatic tricks.
The video did not show what control system(s) was/were used. Guess the non-hobbyists would not be interested in that. Digital command and control has taken front stage in this scale. You can now operate the layout using a smart phone, tablet, laptop, or dedicated digital control devices.
By the way, I model “O” scale.
Fantastic layout---thanks Lightcatcher

My layout is a shelf layout spanning 50 feet at 2 feet wide , with 4 foot out-croppings all in “0” . I use three rail for it’s electrical simplicity but strive for realism .
Just got a scale Alco RS-3 , CNJ , and will join the GP-9 CNJ on the Newark & Southern NJ RR , N&SNJ !
Great hobby isn’t it ?!😃

It sure is- nearly limitless in scope. I, too, strive for realism. About 95% of my motive power and rolling stock are scale, with most motive power units either Lionel Legacy or MTH DCS controlled. My layout is modest in size compared to many: 22’ X 10’. I model the late steam - early diesel era, stopping at 1959.
Cheers

Great Video. I too have always been a model railroad hobbyist and railroad buff (though not a very good buff). I got hooked back in the early 1960's and John Allen and his Gorre & Daphetid R.R. was my inspiration. It's nice to see some of the big model railroads still exist.

This is Howard Zane's layout which is HO scale. It is one of a half dozen layouts that are listed as an artistic marvel. Besides dozens of articles he has three 1 Hr videos "Great Model Railroads" by Allen Keller and has written a great book entitled "My life with model trains"

Wow! This is really impressive.
Awesome set-up. Sent the link to my Nephew he loves trains and even wants to be an engineer.
