Another shot of the Tiny Spider He decided to sit still so I did a stack. Used a Nikon 200 mm macro lens with a Canon DC250 close up attachment lens. This shot provides much more magnification. Actual size of spider is about 3 mm. Stack of 55 layers. More detail here, but eyes not seen in this view. Some chromatic aberration that I could not fix in Photoshop.
What are the projections at the end of the abdomen?
Working distance was only about 1-1/2 inches for this shot. Gave me a chance to use my new ring light.
AmScope LED-144-YK-LED. This light was made for microscopes. It fits on the DC250. I have made an adapter so it will fit my 200 MM f4 Nikon lens. Of course it is only useful for tripod use in the studio.
That is some fancy rig you got there. The structures at the rear of the abdomen, just left of center, are spinnerets, used to produce webbing. The things sticking out the top of the abdomen to the right are the 'knees' of the front legs, which are folded.
The two yellow structures are pedipalps, which means this is a male spider.
