PS CC smart objects not often seen options...

When using smart objects you can use several 'layers' within a smart object and edit them at will.

Ctrl-L = Level
Ctrl-M = Curves
Ctrl-B = Color balance
Ctr-U = Hue/Saturation
Ctrl-I = Invert (not editable)
Alt-Shift-Ctrl-B = B&W adjustment

The advantage is that instead of having to link one or more layer to the one below it the adjustment become an integral part of the object.

One draw back: You do not have the opportunity to use specialized masking. If you need a mask, use a regular, linked layer.

Also, some plugins, like Landscape Pro, will not open if the underlying image is a Smart Object.

Which is nothing new but a normal limitation as some filters will not work unless the image is downgraded to 8 bits.

(one more reason to avoid plug-ins...)

You can also include ACR into the smart object along the the filters Rondnongno listed.

I'm sure there is. PS is truly the multi headed hydra of this century as far as "code" goes. Most of us only learn the scratch the surface.

Not to contradict you, you are correct, ACR can be used.

Caveat: ACR is a filter and as many (not all) other filter it is an integral part of the object flexibility.

I am advertising stuff that is not a filter yet that can be used 'as' under smart object. Everything listed so far is also a layer adjustment.

Appreciate the additional information on smart objects. Haven't used them as much as I should, but just had to relearn as I was designing a brochure with 15 photos which might need resizing.
Thanks, Bev

Understand, so in the spirit on other than filters, another feature I use is transform and resizing. Each time you resize, you lose resolution, unless you use a smart object.

In fact, I've found that, next to layers and masks, smart objects are the next most useful tool in PS.
