I use a Pixma a Pro-10 and a Pro-100 for large prints, but if you aren't going to print larger than 8.5 X 11 I suggest the TS-9020. It does excellent color prints and amazing black and white prints and the ink isn't astronomically expensive.

It's not the cost of the printer, it is the cost of the ink. Pixmo Pro-100 refill set on Amazon is $148 I think.

Yep, and when the inks run out just buy another one for $50!

Canon sells the ink set for the pro 100 for $125. Precision Colors sells 5 times the amount of ink for a few bucks less once your set up with there kit if your willing to refill the cartridges yourself.

Yes, if you are serious and expect to really use your printer, this is They Way To Go. I too have a Pro-100 and a Pro-10. I’m set up with Precision Color refill kit for the Pro-100 and I’m on my 3rd refill. My Pro-10 is ready for a few new carts. I researched it, and The only way that makes sense is to buy a Precision Color Refill Kit for it too.

If you plan on selling prints, or displaying without fade worries, I recommend spend another $100-150 and get the Pro-10. It uses Pigment inks with 200 year display life. It also offers another color B&W ink for superb B&W images.

The Pro-100 longevity display longevity can be extended by using a Spray on Protectant.

Forgot to add When Canon offers there semi-annual Ink/Paper sales, it Pays to buy their ink. For every two inks you buy you gets several packs of Canon Photo Paper from 4x6 up to 13x19”. You can buy a full set of ink 2 inks at a time and get $100’s of dollars 💵 worth of free paper. That also gives you another set of Factory Cartridges to use to refill. You need and want OEM carts with their chips to use for refill.

Nice summary. It was 10 pages of reading last time.
I would add that value ink can be as low as $25 for the full pro 100 refill. Looks just as good coming out but faded within weeks. A laminate it a spray will help.

I have and use this printer. I only print occasionally for personal purposes and sometimes go several months without printing. I have never had a problem with the cartridge jets clogging, etc. due to printer inactivity.

My question: Does the ink in Precision Colors stand up to long periods of printer inactivity? That would be important to me. In fact, I use so little ink, I wonder if it simply makes sense for me to wait for the occasional ink sales and get the free paper which is often included........

Any comments regarding yours and others experience here would be appreciated. Hey, as soon as the weather get a little better I plan on a lot more photo outings which may generate a lot more picture printing! Thank you, Tom

Interesting comments......I have owned the Pro-100 for about a year. None of my photos appears to have faded.....yet. Based on your experience, how long will it take for the ink to start to fade? Color more so than B&W? What protectorate would you recommend? Thanks, Tom

It doesn't matter , canon , pc ink. Every 60 hours it runs a cleaning cycle so the heads do not get clogged ( if I understand it correctly) .
