For those that didn't know what DaveO meant when referring to "the ice breaker working," here's a shot of the Connecticut River this past week. The swing bridge is right behind the Goodspeed.

I wanted to take a peek yesterday, but we were otherwise committed. About 50 miles over the river and through the woods.

The place was packed yesterday with the traffic backed up for miles with people wanting to see the ice. Here's another shot just north of the bridge.

OMG I'm cold looking at that. I remember once in the 70's the sound froze over from port Jefferson to bridgeport.

They were taken on the same day, January 15th, about one mile apart, on the same river. I've never seen anything like it.
