Thanks..perhaps a Desert Glossy. But what struck us was when he was aware of us he coiled up with his little tail in the air, and head arched and poised in strike position. I suspect that behavior is a characteristic of this snake, mimicking a rattler. His motion when moving was exceptionally sidewinder like too.
