Cornish 'fast response barber'.

This chap used to have a barber shop beside Porthleven Harbour, and he became known locally as "the harbour barber".

Then the rent go too expensive, so he moved to a shop away from the harbour - but he got fed up with that because the rent got too expensive there as well.

So he bought and converted this caravan into his Mk III barber shop and became "The harbour Barber on Tour" - (it had the bonus that he could also use the caravan for his holidays as well!).

The plan was that with this new mobile set-up, he could if required, rush to any gent's hairdressing disaster scene in West Cornwall - although he's since got fed up being a barber and become a lorry driver!

So there is a vacancy in this area for a mobile barber, if anyone fancies a career in gent's mobile hairdressing.

This chap used to have a barber shop beside Porthl... (show quote)

My wife and I used to pull an Airstream, and whenever we pulled into a campground I would have my "Locksmith" shingle out even before hooking up.

trailers come with different key for each of the locks, especially the outside compartments. (shame on them)

soooo...I would install a deadbolt on the door and key the door lock and the deadbolt to be the same. also would change out the keying of the compartments to all use the same key.

after booking one to 4 units to work on, almost always had to turn people away.

paid all expenses for many a trip that way. One day's work in exchange for a week on the road.

Clever, but I cut my own. : )

I remember when I was a kid the barber shops would have signs like, "Six Barbers. No Waiting."

I tried that once, but ended up looking like a punk rocker

We had a "two cut" barbershop as a kid. The barbers didn't like each other so Hank and Leon (Dutton) never spoke to each other except when absolutely necessary. Dutton, Dutton went a puttin. Thats how I referred to my barber and everyone knew what I meant.

"We had a "two cut" barbershop as a kid."

That sounds just like life in Cornwall.

I remember two brothers who ran a small farm.
One of them used to work the farm implements behind the horses and the other one did the labouring.

When they bought a new tractor the horse man refused to drive the tractor, so the other brother drove it - but they still only had horse drawn implements.
So one would drive the tractor, while the other one got towed behind steering the single furrow plough.

But they had very stony ground and occasionally the plough would hit a stone, whereas the horses would stop automatically when they met a stone, the tractor would keep going and catapult the plough and man into the air.

The language would then be obscene and occasionally lead to a fist fight between the two of them!

We used to think that they were old men, but they were probably only in their 50s.
And this was all nearly 60 years ago.

Hey Digs, what a great story. Sounds like the germans we have around home. They are a strong minded bunch. Hope the guy who got launched had an appropriate helmet on. Good Day Digs.

They haven't built a city anywhere in the world that I'd live in, compared to the life that I've had living here in the countryside in Cornwall.
