Gray Hawk?

This fellow stopped by for a drink from our bird bath. Checked with Peterson's Field Guide to Birds and the nearest I could come to a match was a Gray Hawk, but not at all sure. Picture was taken with a Panasonic FZ200 "bridge" camera.

Looks like a Sharp Shinned Hawk. The stripped tail and wing design are a dead give away.
We get them, Coopers, and Harris in our yard poaching our feeders

The long square tail indicates a sharp-shinned Hawk. The orange eye makes it an adult bird, which would be all gray if it were a gray hawk. I'm not 100% certain as I see no trace of the barred chest at the edge. Too bad you didn't get a frontal view.

good shot, ldk. i have never seen a hawk on any of our birdbaths.
