Here is a Ford hotrod I found yesterday .. didn't have the right lens with me to get it all in one shot without all the stuff around it .. so I decided it would make a good pano.. first time trying a vertical instead of horizontal photos

I don't get it either?
Horizontal vs Vertical

Did you take the pictures up & down or side to side?
Just curious
Still a nice job & cool car

Oh sorry y'all I turned the camera sideways and took vertical photos

Sorry for the confusion .. I was excited how it turned out being handheld .. I really love the height to it .. I think I'll start doing all my panoramas that way

Georgiann,

Those spherical panos are always interesting. We had several earlier in this thread. I've never tried one myself.

You might want to get a cup of joe and start back on page one of this thread and look through all the images to find the other circulars, or you might not. Your choice.

Post more soon,

Eric

OK, now I get it, thanks for that.

I do shoot some panos like that as it does give more 'headroom'. It usually depends on how much time I have and whether or not I have a tripod.

Here's a pano from the Virginia Creeper Trail, a 'rails to trails' success story between White Top Mountain and Abingdon VA. Shuttle services in Damascus VA will take you and your bike, or a rental bike with helmet and water bottle, to the top of White Top Mtn. Then it is 17 miles of easy downhill back to town, sweet! A great way to spend a day.

Here's a vertical pano of the Blue Hole, a favorite swimming hole near Stoney Creek TN.

Supposed to have an outing with true beginners tomorrow, will introduce them to panoramas... Will see how this flies.

Yes, they will see some primitive gear, all manual, a pano head (v/h) that cost $79.99*, one made by yours truly and one made out of existing gear, just not made for that. Do it yourself for paupers.

*Not about to waste a large amount on gear that I often ignore, forget and mostly do not use.

By the way, I am about to create a tutorial on panoramas, who wants to help? Be aware that this will a vulgarization, not a highly technical post.

Eric: photo bucket?

Checked the site of that guy... He now has 'version 2.0 out (?) for $99.99

Thanks, Renomike. There is some magnificent scenery out west and I'd love to spend a few years shooting it. Never been to Nevada, but it's on the bucket list.

Eric... You can add Bryce & Zion Canyon to your bucket list too. Both in southern Utah, and very close to one another, and the list goes on and on....;0)

And the list goes on... you can add the Four Corners area and Death Valley...
