Ok; so why are the branches that should be showing in front of the moon, not there? (And the faint outline of a branch in back of the moon...)

It is not a joke and the moon was not added to the photograph. Tulsa lies on the Arkansas river just as the river bends from a west to east flow to a north to south flow. Looking west - and the moon was nearly due west that morning - the low clouds would be greater and more dense I suppose than normal. Whatever, I swear the only treatment I did was to sharpen a little and to play with color curves before converting to black and white. Thanks for looking for sure.
