This and other posts are driven by extreme left and right wing tabloids that spin news to drive up clicks. News is a business and as such it often abuses it's first amendment rights in the search of the almighty dollar. Those that do not understand this are being led like a dog on leash.
You think that posts on Ugly Hedgehog are major profit centers for American Journalism?
I wish....
News is a business, as you say, an important business necessary to the functioning of our democracy, and protected by our Constitution.
If it abuses the first amendment, there are legal remedies. I can’t say that never happens, but we have an important need for truth to be presented to the nation, disciplined, if necessary, by said remedies.
If anything, it is Trump who is most guilty of abusing truth with his thousands of lies, compulsive lies, listed, verified and answered lies.
Our democracy requires news, right or left, simple or controversial, hopefully supported by information and responsibility, nurtured by love, tested by hate, seasoned by wit and anger, boring sometimes, exciting other times, but vital news, healthy and informed news, argued over, documented, secret news and public news, good news and bad, happy and sad, meaningful news and boring news.
We must have it.
We thrive on it.
Our democracy demands it.
Can’t do without it.
Profitable or free, good news or bad, reasonable, strange, unbelieveable.
So there you have it...what else is new?
