Since the snowflakes have been few and far between, I decided to take advantage of our cold temps (-21 wind chill) and start experimenting with frozen bubbles. It's actually fascinating to watch them freeze and to read about the science behind it. It's also frustrating since there's not much time before the bubbles pop. Without going into boring detail, it took a lot of trial and error because I had to do it in the garage...too windy outside. Not good lighting which I'll try to work on today. But these I'm posting are the most decent out of a fleet of about 100 images. And I know they're not that great, I'll have to keep working on it. But hope you enjoy them and maybe go try your own! Those of you in warm climates...you can freeze soap bubbles in your freezer!

This is also "pop"ular on TV right now. My Florida home doesn't get cold enough outside to do this, and my freezer is too small for me to get in. LOL

I do love the images and wish you the best.

Often creativity in science, photography or any subject is doing the obvious that has been over looked. Your bubbles are fascinating,,, any one of us could have done what you did... but did not and you did. Thank you

Ice is interesting and too few of us use it. Once for the camera club, I froze a flat of ice misted it with water, put a cut out photo of Santa on it.... then after that had solid frozen I added a 1/4 inch of water. That froze and Santa showed thru. "Flash: Santa Disappeared From Radar" was the title.

Nice shots. Since we have had really low temps. here this week, I acquired some soap bubble solution and tried it at about 10 degrees. Not cold enough, they burst before freezing. And, it almost requires two people, one to blow the bubbles and one to take the picture. Did you add anything to your solution, or is it a simple soap solution? I tried adding some glycerine to mine, and it didn't seem to make a difference in how long they floated before bursting.

Beautifully done, the effect brought to mind expensive Lalique crystal art pieces. Thanks for sharing the photos and your process.
