If that's correct wouldn't we hear that in the marketing of this equipment?

you just mist an article on pho tooo.com with an astronaut telling what lens cameras and exp they use it was on for about 45 mins .

Wow, I've got to say - I'm amazed at how far off topic this thread has come...only a couple of "answers" offered are actually answering the OP's question, the rest is just BS.

And, @Fotoartist, Nikon used to advertise how NASA selected their gear for space flights - my guess is in this day and age that's not a big marketing plus for most folks.
