Family pics at the San Antonio Japanese Tea Gardens

My wife and I spent the week after Christmas with our daughter and her family in San Antonio. Although the weather was overcast and grey our entire stay, we got a chance to see the Japanese Tea Gardens (although the carved wooden entrance arch says Chinese Tea Garden...). Here are a couple of pictures of my granddaughters using the D850. We had to pay for a photo permit, probably because of the gear (and off camera flash and reflector...). I'm guess iPhone shooters don't pay for a permit, and they were legion.

The Japanese Tea Garden (aka the Sunken Gardens) became the Chinese Tea Garden very soon after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, and remained that until about 1984-5, when it went back to the original name. It's a lovely place; my1964 Trinity University graduation ceremony was held there.

Great pictures of two very pretty young ladies!

Here in Miami I have not been allowed in the past to a couple of places because having a tripod made me a "professional."
I am sure you know professionals frequent those places with their models. Having umbrellas, off camera flash and a big camera surely qualified you as a "professional" photographer.

Thanks, and interesting historical note about the gardens!

I would invite them to review my tax return. No revenue from photography. Plenty of expenses, though.

Whatever you paid for the permit, these photos are worth it.
