2 umbrellas peeking over a black background...as it happens, I have an "oops" which shows this well. Here 'ya go!
but this oops shot doesn't show the lighting as on the finished shot. I suppose that you had to move the umbrellas just right to light the sides of her figure

Nope, I never moved the lights once they were in place, just the model and camera.
how did you manage to light the sides of her legs and top of her arms? wonderful effect that it is

Actually you are correct, this lighting setup was at the end of the session and I'd moved the lights once. They were actually just in front of the backdrop pointing almost toward each other, slightly forward (I've seen it called "caliper lighting"). Sorry for the confusion, the lighting shown above was done for the other pic I posted recently under "New B&Ws".
Just discovered but excellent! And, if you hang it upside down, it invokes lots of questions... is she walking? Is she diving? Why are her arms inverted? If my photo, my bedroom, I would have one of each side by side.
