Here’s why the “collusion” investigation started.

You can’t possibly believe this shit, Wolf! Really? Some drunk weasel allegedly bragging in a bar, 8-12 months into the debate, caused all this? The Aussie comes out now to discuss it???

However, the best way to clear it up is for Justice to comply with the Congressional subpoena this Thursday, yes? As I recall, part of the 6 month old request by the actual ELECTED people in charge of oversight that is being stonewalled includes the literal basis behind the FISA warrant.

So, wait and see.

I agree to "wait and see" but I do believe this story.

The reasons are 1) because it is being reported by reputable newspapers around the world and 2) the diplomat has been identified as Alexander Downer (picture below), Australia's longest serving foreign minister (now retired after 11 years of service). It appears but is not yet verified that this was the major reason why Papadopolous pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI. It is ironic that Downer was a member of Australia's conservative Howard government. It has been reported that the Australian government waited two months before informing the FBI of the incident thought the reason for the delay has not been revealed.

I will accept Mueller's findings whatever they are however,it should be clear that the FBI investigation was not based on the "democrat's dossier" on Trump.

Not so sure that has actually been shown, that is just one more piece of the puzzle.... This next week is going to be interesting as congress has demanded answers that if not provided, contempt citations are being threatened.

Funny, you agree to wait and see then end with “should be clear that the FBI investigation was not based on the "democrat's dossier" on Trump.”

Which is it, Wolf?????

As for being reported by newspapers around the world.......again, really? The same papers that reported online the fake news of Flynn flipping gon trump that tanked the markets a few weeks back?

Thought so.

As a retired, very high level analyst I am suspicious of the extreme stonewalling, and I am suspicious that the ramblings of a low level drunk could get a FISA warrant, I’m suspicious of the two month wait, and I put zero weight on the alleged info coming from a “conservative” (think how many here don’t like Trump).

Thus, I put no weight or belief in any of it until I hear exactly what the physical basis was for the FISA warrant...,in other words, I really WILL wait and see!

I'm pretty sure Mueller has multiple sources for almost everyone who has 'flipped,' at least, that's what they say. I especially like Malcolm Nance on MSNBC. Mueller has to to assure that everyone is telling him the truth.

You asked "Which is it?" Waiting and saying the dossier was not what initiated the investigation are not mutually exclusive. Yes, the FISA warrant response will be very helpful.

Are all the world's papers "fake news"? Do they all have an animus towards Trump such that they would ignore facts and print rumors... just about him? Do you the the British "The Guardian" newspaper would be biased?

Downer was a member of the Australian conservative government. I'm not saying that matches evenly with the American conservative movement but they do have a lot in common.

I don't think you mean Downer was a "low level drunk". Do you mean Papadopolous? If you mean him, how is it that two months before the election, he helped arrange a New York meeting between Mr. Trump and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt. I suppose we could debate what it means to say "he helped arrange".

Cykdelic, I doubt Mueller will find evidence directly linking Trump to Russian efforts to get him elected. I do think people he holds dear such as Donald Jr. and Kushner may be facing serious issues but that's Mueller job to determine who and how and if Russians worked with American's to help Trump win. It is possible Trump may be exposed to an obstruction of justice charge particularly if his son or son-in-law are found culpable. If they are, he is in the unenviable position of being able to pardon them but facing a difficult backlash if he does. All ifs....

So, that's why I say I will wait. My point is what caused the initiation of the FBI investigation. It appears not to be the dossier as so many Trump supporters believe.

Wolf...read what you wrote! “.....it should be clear that the FBI investigation was not based on the "democrat's dossier" on Trump.”

That is pretty definitive in terms of a declaration (and a closed mind), yes? After all, it was your finishing statement.

Yes, I was referring to Papa since the reports say he was DRINKING when he allegedly blabbed to the Aussie. As for large scale conspiracies........no, that’s for Hilary. My point is I don’t measure that conversation as anything near the basis for a FISA warrant (you can read the FISA crap yourself). However, as I am not a justice employee, I will wait for Thursday.

Regardless of what happens next, I will repeat my comment from several days ago....ANYONE who is not wary, afraid, pissed that a American political (The DNC and the Hilary campaign)party paid a foreign government and/or its operatives (Russia) directly or indirectly, to dig up dirt on an American presidential campaign and thereby affect said election is an absolute moron.

Note I don’t put you in that category, but I do want to influence you to not get lost in the chafe over this event.

We have in the past witnessed many reputable news sources get caught in the act of spreading un reliable news, these stories have but one source and if it is wrong or incorrect they all suffer the same fate.

Lol - and here I thought you were merely wrong but now I see you are obsessively wrong!

I am almost honored that you troll me... but I wish it had been by someone more honorable and informed.

Help me understand why you joined less than a month ago and now have over 350 posts. Who or where were you before then?

These people pretty much know my values and opinions from months of interaction. You... well, who were you a month ago?
