I sent an e-mail to Nikon regarding my suddenly inoperable Nikon pocket camera, asking if they might have suggestions as to what might be wrong. The company responded with an e-mail saying they would reply within 48 hours. Then, about five minutes later, I got another e-mail from them saying they were happy to have solved my problem. I never heard from them again.

Does the company always operate this way? This makes me want to never consider buying one of their products again.

No, they don't. You obviously connected with the Canon branch of Nikon Support. Try again after the first of the year when things calm down a bit. They're probably having a wild New Years party at their offices - or maybe not.

I've always had good luck with Nikon Support, but only for recall.

Post your problem here, and I bet someone will have a suggestion.

Nikon support is normally very reliable in returning an inquiry. I doubt anyone is minding the store right now so, as suggested, try again Tuesday morning. You also may want to call as I have had good luck with that and they will need more information than provided here. Best of luck. Happy new Year.

Sure sounds like a computer snafu. I'd try again after the holiday.

I sent this message to them three and a half weeks ago. Surely they weren’t partying that long ago.

Forget Tuesday, the phone lines will be bonkers. Call them Wednesday morning. I've always found them to be very helpful.

Still sounds like a computer glitch. Haw you contacted them since this happened?

Sounds like an anomaly. Could happen to anybody, but why did you wait 3 weeks before seeking a solution?

I actually thought the company might reply, but apparently it isn’t going to.

I'd give them a second chance and let them know that the UUH Nation is all waiting to see how well they do!

Did you call the store where you bought the camera from? If it is a camera shop, there might be someone there who could possibly help.
I also found that Nikon pocket camera battery contacts are subject to high resistance corrosion. If your camera takes AA or other replaceable batteries, take a look at the terminals especially the internal ones and if they look white or green, take a pencil eraser and GENTLY use it to rub off the corrosion.
Good luck and hope you get your camera working asap.

It’s not a battery problem Lithium-ion rechargeable) . The last time I tuned the camera on (Coolpix S6900), the shutter cover opened, but it didn’t extend, and then shut off. I too thought at first that it might be a battery problem, so I tried a new one. Same result: the camera powers on, the lens won’t extend, and then it shuts off. The lens cover is now stuck open, too.

See if there is a reset.

Many such problems get fixed by taking the battery out for a while but your battery switch performed that.

Did you try cleaning the battery contacts in the camera?
