Although I am a big fan of black and white, I'm thinking color for this one. Thoughts?
Art is definitely a matter of opinion. I like them both, but the rich golden and brown tones of the color win for me.

My feelings exactly. Thanks for posting.
My first thought is when you are asking for opinions don't lead off by giving yours.
If we were looking at the entire instrument I would say color. With the section, black and white works better for me.
Both versions do look good.

I agree, the wood tones glow in the color shot, while the B&W is flat. Where did you shoot Glen Campbell's guitar?

Glen spent an hour with me before a concert. He signed my guitar.

Really? Why not?
Thank you your kind words.

Bias. Let the images speak for themselves, then say your piece. When photos are judged the judges usually are not told who made the photos. In this case we know who made them, but our opinions should not be influenced.
Not a rule, just a tradition I was exposed to over the years.

I do see your point, but it’s also clear to me that a great many of our members have absolutely no problem expressing what they think! Still, you have a valid point.

I am voting for B&W with this one. Just look at the detail in the wood grain in the B&W. Also that plastic? with the white speckling.
I do prefer the color version for this image.
Ben, this becomes a choice of purpose rather than art. As you well know, I'm more partial to black and white photography. In this case, the autograph wins in the color category.
If it were just a photograph of a guitar, the black and white would work quite well. The texture of the grain contrasted with the smooth finish and accompanying the needed accessories, pickguard and tailpiece. However, the autograph sets this apart as a special guitar and this makes for a choice of real vs. art.
Regardless of choice, the composition is really nice. It sets the stage for the autograph with enough surroundings to locate it but not overpower it. Very nicely done.

I like the color shot best as it shows off the wood tones.
