Could not pass up trying this with some metal sculptures I shot yesterday - being a fellow who lived in many mining towns as a youth I see images like this quite often as I visit places like Bodie and Virginia City

It's a good idea, but I'd say your "ghosts" are perhaps a bit too ethereal (i.e. transparent).

I like the idea very much.

I think that, if the ghosts were more in the white road, we might see them better.
Also, can you downsize them so they look like they fit the dimensions of the overall image?

I think it's cool. Ghosts don't always fit their surroundings.

Thanks for the comment - I'll go back to that layer and play with the optisity.

Thanks for your input - I can go back to that layer and us "free transform" and adjust their size. as well as re-position them.

Actually this is not about the transparency per say but that everything is using the same (transparency) You might gain more by using a mask that gradually give consistence to your ghosts.

Also, try not to not make them float out of context...

Looks good to me, keep doing it, you'll get better quickly and get a kick out of your work. Lots of possibilities in this. And fun.

Thanks for the encouragement - this is only the second of this type I have tried - the other came out quite well -
I can't post it as I used another persons post of a "Spooky" old closed school and "ghosted" in some of my wife's family's kids from the late 1890's or early 1900's. Love PS.

Isn't "floating" what ghosts do? Not sure, I haven't personally met any, but Casper does in the cartoons. Just being sarcastic. (I know several)

I do like the idea of fading the opacity towards the ground.

Yes - I could try using a "light/soft eraser" gently going over the lower part of the images.

I don't believe in ghosts - but I do get sentimental and visualize people as they would be or have been in these old mining towns as I lived in them all of my youth - birth in '37 to leaving home at 18 in Wallace, ID in '55- so many of my fathers friend and co workers died in those deep dark hell holes and of course several of my school mates who chose that profession as their fathers did. The Kellogg, ID Sunshine Mine Disaster in '72 killed 91 - many names were quite familiar to me.

I don't believe in ghosts either, but I have the same feeling at old battlefields, where upwards of 10-20,000 people could die in one battle in a surprisingly small field. Hard not to imagine the horror, of what I would consider mere kids going through all that. Warfare these days is horrific as well, but firing missiles and using drones is a lot different than bayonets and needing to be close enough to see someone's eyes, to be able to accurately fire a one shot projectile at the other guy. The older I get, the more interested I am in the history of people who fought those battles, both the survivors, and those that passed.
