I want to take some online photography classes but am unsure as to which one to take. I don't want a lesson on photoshop (don't have/want that program) but rather just plain old fashioned photography in the digital age.

I like the Tony Northrup series on You Tube.

I'm the "new kid on the block" here, but when I was looking to tick up my skills, I found Creative Live out of Seattle very useful (am I allowed to mention other paid providers???). Prices are pretty reasonable and they offer a huge variety of topics, including camera-specific classes...once you pay, you have lifetime access to the videos and materials.
Beyond that, do you have a community college in your neck of the woods? The value there is a "hands on" environment with a warm body to ask questions of...
Go to: froknowsphoto.com He has excellent videos.

Jared Polin & Scott Kelby are 2 people who I don't like listening to. There is something about their voices that I don't like listening to. I do like Scott's books.
I started with the online course, Fundamentals of Digital Photography with NY Institute of Photography. Www.NYIP.edu. Excellent and worth every penny.
I also like
www.lynda. Com. Ben Long, especially, gives excellent video lessons.,
I’ve also used the various other youtube lessons mentioned but have found NYIP.edu and lynda.com to be rhe best and most comprehensive.

I've taken 5 classes from creative live and have been very happy with them. The thing I like about creative live compared to some others is that creative live allows you to download the classes you purchased. This way you have them for ever and can look at them whenever you want.
Go to
www.udemy.com. Some great FREE courses and very reasonable paid ones.
I FOUND MIKE BROWN TO BE A VERY INFORMATIVE PHOTO TUTORIAL SITE. ANTHONY MORGANTI IS ALSO VERY GOOD. FRONOSPHOTO IS EDGY AND GOOD. I TEACH PHOTOGRAPHY AND OFTEN REFER MY STUDENTS TO THESE SITES.
Thank you all for your responses. I think I'll do froknows... unless someone has a better idea.
One of the best is NY Institute of Photography. However it is fairly expensive.

I like Linda.com. I has courses on everything! It is now owned by Linkedin, which has become a Microsoft company.
There can be a fee, but many libraries provide access at no cost.
