I'll bet you are right. Is she going to be able to fly without a tail?
Yes, she can. We watched her fly up to the feeder and then over to an old picnic table. It was not steady flight in either direction, and I question whether she will survive the watchful eyes of a sharp-shinned or cooper's hawk. Here's cheering for her!

Other than predation, the lack of tail feathers WILL affect her ability to stop. The dynamics of bird landings is controlled as much by the tail feathers as the wings. Some hard landings are inevitable.
