Rokinon 12 mm f-2 at $270 is a really neat little lens for my Fuji xt-2. Pretty sharp, and has just a wee bit barrel distortion, which I will tweak out when I have time to apply lens correction. Here is the first jpg snap with it - my dusty living room straight from the camera. No flash, auto ISO so I have no idea what it was. Manual focus, but at 12 mm, infinity will cover most situations. I used the phase focus = works very well. Not exactly "professional glass" but a very useful little lens at that price!
Very nice, Cat. Both the image and the room.

Thanks for posting. I’ve been looking at that option for awhile. The Fuji is nice—but significantly more.

Nice.
Faster, wider and a heck of a lot less expensive than my 14mm.
Hmmmm....

Optically, the Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS is very good. It’s very sharp at almost all f/numbers, even sharper than the much more expensive Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8. I have no reservations recommending it to anyone looking for a nice sharp lens."

I paid $329 for mine and it's still a bargain. I have used it not only for real estate but also for mosque ceilings in Iran and cathedral interiors in Barcelona. Great lens!
What a beautiful room and the image is nice too! I have been looking for something wide for my X-T2 and had my eye on the Fuji 16 mm lens but it is pricey. So this looks like a good alternative for now.

I have been playing with it on both my xt-1 and xt-2. Very easy to manual focus with low focus peaking, and exposure with aperture priority works well. If you want a nice wide lens for landscapes or travel I don't think you could beat this one - at this price. The only thing you are missing is autofocus, a non issue at 12 mm. I think it would be different with some other cameras, but with the Fuji, you can see the effects of ISO, shutter and aperture before you shoot, so this little lens is perfect for Fuji cameras. I love it!

Manual focus is not an issue. Ordered it! Thanks for the post.

I've had trouble using focus peaking in the past and wasn't aware of how many types there are now.
Thanks for making me look into it.
Time to get my adapter back out.
Now where did I put that manual focus Nikon 85mm....?
Great and very accurate review of this little lens. If I were going on a trip out west, I would just take this lens and perhaps the 55-200 for the occasional wildlife shot. But this little thing would be what stayed on my camera pretty much full time. Sweet!

You won't be sorry! It is little too - for such a fast wide angle. Here it is on my XT-1.

Oh I won't be sorry! In Tucson there is a very old mission established by Father Kino and then restored in the 1990s. The main body of the mission is quite long with alcoves off to the side. It also has a high arched and domed ceiling which is all hand painted with Mexican folk art in bright colors, red predominating and more statues than I can count. The walls are all hand painted as well. I will be returning with the 12 mm lens in January :)
I can't help it, I have to respond. I'm smiling a little at the "not professional glass" comment. I used to own a camera store in the 80s. for decades I have watched, heard, and observed comments from people about their cameras and lenses. I used to lay 3-1/2 x 5 pics on the counter, made with Nikon, Minolta, Canon, Yashica etc. No one could ever tell the difference ( I didn't say I put 8x10s on the counter. point here is that I do not believe that 95% of the public / photo consumers can look at the pictures and tell whether they were made with "professional glass" or not. The man's photo of the living room is very nice. Maybe it has some barrel distortion, maybe not. Again, my eyes are, and have been only, so good. Can't see it. I have learned a lot from UHH; it is a fabulous site. If a a particular answer takes me beyond where I want or need to be, I move on to the next answer. But, responders should keep in context the questioner's abilities, desires, photographic goals, etc., some or all of which a responder may know. ( which spell check doesn't like my "responder" I do not know ). Too many people worry about the equipment they should buy, rather than finding out how to improve their image. That was the case then, it continues to be the case now. Happy Holidays !
