Top Republicans are already talking about cutting Medicare and Social Security next

More Liberal BS, Trump will NOT touch SS as he promised since 2015.

Historically, a republican administration comes into power and "lowers taxes." This leads to greater deficits, and often a recession which leads to a democratic administration coming into power and needing to raise taxes, and the spiral continues.

This time the tax cut also will end up "blowing up" "health care system," and they also decided not to fund the Special Children's Health Plan. These two combined will through tens of thousands out of their health insurance coverage.

At the same time the top 20 percent of earners will receive 80 percent of the advantages of the new plan!

Bill Clinton lowered the cap gain tax from 28% down to 20%, and GWB lowered it from 20% to 15%, both of these cuts resulted in a major increase in government revenue....even Obama knows this but doesn't care. Also, the 2008 crash was not the result of the Bush tax cuts or republican policies, it was a combination of issues included the democrat housing policy. Both parties should be held responsible, democrats for creating the environment for this issue and republicans for not working harder to curtail the coming crash.....G Bush warned us many times that this was going to be a huge problem.

What about us seniors on Social Security?
The last two years we received a cost of living raise in our checks !!!!!!!!, did we?
Last year and again this year my wife got a raise in her Social Security, Then received
an increase in what they with hold for Medicare of exactly what the raise is.
That's a cost of living raise?
Last year I received a cost of living raise.
Last year my raise was exactly what my increase in Medicare was. I made out this
year. Another cost of living raise, But the Medicare payment is raised all but $2.00
of what my raise is.
They only give seniors about a 2% raise if the cost of living is up 3% anyway.
Gee is this why more and more seniors can't pay for food and meds the same month?
Now coming up on the agenda is saving on the Social Security cost.
Making Seniors pay tax on their S.S. benefits, and cutting the raise in benefits
HELP.
The GOP's new tax bill gives everyone some sort of... (show quote)

Yes...you've got it quite right.

As we retire and go onto our benefits, we all realize (within a few years of being on retirement benefits) that Social Security and Medicare go hand in hand. If one goes up, the other goes down. If nothing happens with Social Security, then nothing happens with Medicare. It's called a "fixed income". I never knew until I got here how very "fixed" things become when you retire. I just got a letter that my SS benefits will go up $13.00 for 2018! Medicare sent a letter that their premiums are going up $8.00. Net gain for me for the year = $5.00. But then our Rent went up $25... A MONTH! I have no idea how I'm going to keep up with this cost of living scale. I guess I'll get poorer and poorer. Maybe after a while I'll qualify for food stamps.

The problem is that everything else goes up: food, gas, rent, medical costs. And there is no one to speak for us. They all think we are so lucky that we have our "entitlement" money (that we paid into all our lives). Our Representatives and Senators on both sides of the aisle will never understand our plight because they have never been even close to our standard of living - i.e. paycheck to paycheck.

You got to be kidding. GOP.. Do you really think it wouldn't happen if the dumb dems were in charge. This country is in debt to the tune of over 20 trillion. And we are still sending billions over seas. We have a fox guarding the hen house.

We wouldn’t have a tax decrease for millionaires that adds 1.5 TRILLION on to the dept and leaves 9 million children with no health insurance. Mayor Bloomberg warned you Trump is a con artist. How many times do you have to be kicked in the head by Trump before you realize what a crook he is. Trump gets a billion dollars from his tax cut and next on their agenda is getting rid of social security and Medicare. BTW who gave you social security and Medicare, not the GOP.

Really? Obamacare did a lot of damage to your Medicare and the cost of supplemental insurance plans. The fact is that the social security trust fund is becoming insolvent regardless as to whether a democrat administration or a republican administration is in power, thank administrations past for expanding the programs to include non-citizens and not addressing the funding issues as they arose... Only ignorant people would try and hang this around the current administration.

They already did by voting for Trump and the Republicans. If they cut Medicare and SS, it will start a new trend. Instead of kids moving in with their parents due to student loans, it will be parents moving in with their kids because they can’t afford rent/mortgage payments and still eat. But don’t worry, Trump’s real estate buddies won’t pay much tax when they sell the old folks’ foreclosed home.

Do you actually believe your own BS? I’ve been on SS & Medicare for almost 10 years. Medicare payments have increased substantially and SS payments have only increased by a tiny amount. Show me how the ACA has affected my supplemental insurance. I do believe there is a law against non-citizens receiving Medicare. If I’m wrong, show me. I’m very willing to learn from a reputable source. As far as SS funding goes, if most administrations had not been stealing from the fund, it would be solvent. If you don’t have facts to back up your statements, STFU!

Just remember that the debt was not created by a lack of revenue (taxes).

Do you want to see where your SS and Medicare is going via the entitlements that are not supposed to be SS and Medicare but are? Go to your local county court house on any given day and sit in family court and see how many illegals are getting these benefits because they claim they fled from gangs in their country or any other story they can come up with. Then you got the special immigrant juvenile status to stay that the last admin put into place. These cases get rubber stamped and your benefits go to these people. The system is broken. It is quite the eye opener when you see this for yourself.

If the government would stop borrowing from SS they would have money to pay us our SS when we retire. SS was not meant to be the only thing for you to survive on when you retired. Funny thing is that people were against the system being changed and having a savings plan like a 401K put in place of SS.

The government is not supposed to take care of you in the sense of health insurance and retirement. That is up to you.
