I have been searching just couldn't find anything I would buy. I send the 15-85 back after trying it a few days it is not as light they advertised it still weighs 2 pounds.
The best lens for any camera depends on two things...What do you want to photograph and how much are you willing to pay.

Need more info. Price? zoom or prime? if zoom, what range? acceptable weight? etc

First the 15-85 does not weigh 2 pounds, it weighs one and a quarter pounds. Second unless you want to buy a Canon kit zoom like the 18-55mm STM you will not find a zoom lens with the same range that weighs significantly less.
I am using the 80D as a good walk around lens and wildlife I have the Canon18-200.
I like to have more telephoto reach then 200, I have the 70-300 I also have the 70-200 which are to heavy I can't use them as a walk around lens.
Price $ 1000 to 1.500
Thanks

coupla thoughts. canon makes 2 24-105 lenses. The L version is heavier (metal( and costs about $1100. The non L version is lighter (plastic) and costs 599. Canon also makes an 18-200 also $600. I use the 18-200 as my walk around. Is it canon' best lens? No. but it is very good. (I can take bad photos with any lens no matter how expensive)

I have the 18-55 kit lens which I don't use the quality on this one is not to my satisfaction.

And for APS-C like the 80D they make 3 different 18-135s
how about an ef-s 18-200 with a 1.4 extender. The 80d will af to 8f.

A Canon extender
cannot be added to any EF-S lenses. This is not a valid suggestion.
I got the 18-200 and a extender but this extender I have will not fit the 18-200. I only use this extender on my 50mm lenses.
Any time you use a extender you loose part of your f stop.
