This is not an ad. I am a camera collector. I am constantly surprised on how nice the used cameras I find from 2 sources in particular. KEH and Adorama have sold me some fantastic deals. They both underrate their goods and deliver better than advertised.
I just received a 2X3 Topcon Horseman VH-R from KEH, but it is so nice I just have to share my good luck. They even guarantee it for 180 days!
Adorama sold me a demo 4X5 Horseman LX, for 10% of it's new price 10 years ago. I am starting a Horseman collection.
If it ever cools down in Chicago I will be shooting it soon.
I highly recommend buying used cameras from reliable sources. It can save you a lot of money and is the only way to get the old stuff. And I like the old more than my new stuff...
BTW, I shoot digital side by side with analog.

happy for you. bought a nikon n-90x film slr in terrefic condition from KEH, paid 10 bucks for it. the other nice thing about buying from keh and adorama is you dont have to wait untill an auction is over and yyou can't be sniped at the last minute. plus prices are usually better than ebay.

So that makes my N70, I bought new in 1997, worth $5. LOL

You're right, Randy, buying used stuff is way more interesting than buying new...but one MUST be more knowledgeable and able to judge the condition and value of the used item.
I was in the firearms business for about 20 years and became an avid collector during that time. After the first couple years I lost most interest in new stuff. It's more interesting to see what comes along, out of the blue, so to speak.
I think a used Leica M3 w/50mm f-2.0 Sumicron is WAY more interesting than a new Nikon D4.
I have a friend who will loan M3 and earlier Leicas. I just have not taken him up on it. Too busy with LF and building a new darkroom.
I collected motorcycles all my life and I also prefer used ones to new ones.
As for guns...

Danilo; I still have and will never get rid of my first camera : Leica IIIF
with f 3.5 35 mm, f 3.5 135 mm, f 1.5 50 mm, and f 1.5 85 mm. Still
works like a charm with never a problem (except a tiny piece of cracked off film jammed it once, but fell out when I was fiddling with, so didn't have to take it to a dealer) and still takes good shots. Used it in 30 countries -- about 10,000 color slides. Still have two old Rollies too. Best street walking camera ever made. Also great for portraits.
It would be interesting some time to hear what good and interesting rifles, pistols, revolvers, and shotguns you had when you were collecting. Bet you are a long time NRA member. I became a lifer in 1964 while working my way to my B.S. My dad took me duck hunting just off the Mississippi from when I was 6 on. Great sport.

Michael 'O you must have been a big 6 year old. When I first fired my father's Auto 5, 12 gauge at 7, it knocked me on my ass. When he gave me a 20 gauge for Christmas, when I was 11, I was ready. But I never could out shoot him hunting birds. Now I have that old Browning. I do miss dad.

I have no problem with used cameras or used guns as long as they are in good shape. Had guns all my life(I am a Concealed Carry Holder from Minnesota). Never had a problem with a used camera and with guns, if you buy used they are broken in. Biggest problem with new guns.
As a child I lived in Hopkins, born and raised Minnesota. Been gone so long I have mostly forgotten the place, but never the accent. May be spending August in Stillwater if the crazy heat abates.

was issued M1, M1 carbine with folding stock, thompson, 45 cal side arm (swear it was used in WWI), BAR, you know all the weapons one needed to qualify on to be a trooper. then all of a sudden it was the M14 and M16 and SAW. fire power went up because weapons automatic and number of guys went down. combat teams became more effective. all within 6 years.

Being a Medic I had a 45 also. Damn thing came up and almost broke my nose while qualifying. Sarg: I think mine came from the civil war. The rattle was so loud you could scare the enemy away.
Yeah, but it had weight and if you hit a guy with it you surely put him in a world of hurt! I had a colonel who qualified with one at 10 feet from the target.
