Unique angle of sunshine gave this Bald Eagle portrait a dramatic look.
Hand held at 800 mm. Eagle distance was about 125-150 feet.

Regis, even by your standards, this is a memorable picture. Sometimes skill and preparation meet lucky timing-the expression on this bird's face helps to explain why it was chosen so many years ago as a symbol of our country. I also agree with you about how the uneven lighting contributes to the impressiveness of this picture.
I like the way you got him to show emotion. Just what did you say to him?
Very nice!

This must be the basis for the expression, "giving someone the eagle eye" comes from! Great capture!
Phenomenal Capture Regis, Hope you feel better soon
First-rate, Regis. First rate.
THAT is my new most favorite Bird picture in the world Regis! I can hardly look away.... the lighting, the sharp detail, the feeling it gives one. I would like to download this pic so I may look at it over & over if that is alright...personal use only...new wallpaper or even pint & frame it. What a challenge to try & shoot for in the future!! LOL...I love having a goal even if it may be unattainable! Thanks, Walt

Good morning Regis, so nice to see that you are back at it!! I saw some stars this morning when I got up, a good sign but get ready for some very cold weather. Nice perspective and another great shot!. Hope to see you out and about prior to Christmas, have a great day!
Another magnificent capture from the Pacific Northwest's finest eagle photographer !!
That look says: "Shhhh...you're scaring the fish!"
