Blurry images off internet

Could use some help.
Images on camera, enlarged 8x, from SD card, and off thumb drive, are all crystal clear, many at 100%.
When I send them as attachments to an email, they are blurry.
Any ideas or correcting appreciated.
Thanks
Duane

Duane,
If you are embedding as opposed to attaching (for Outlook, not sure on other email programs) the images are greatly compressed automatically in order to email (size limits). I notice this when adding text the text lines become grainy. If I send them as a .jpg it is particularly noticeable.

When I use a .PNG or .TIF formatting of same image, the files are bigger in size but no loss of quality (compressionless). I am sure there is a better answer but that is my work around. Large high quality photos do not email. If you want to share get Dropbox or an app that uses direct sharing peer to peer.

I don't understand what you mean when you say "enlarged 8x". Could you clarify? I use Lightroom Classic to export an image as a jpg at 83% quality and 2048 longest dimension. When I click the attachment icon in Gmail, I attach that picture. Gmail asks what size I want and I choose a size. Pictures are always crystal clear. You need to supply more information concerning what you are doing and what mail program you're using.

Just curious. I've used Gmail for 7 years. I send many attachments. I have never been asked "what size I want and I choose a size".
Please explain. Thanks for your time.

Do not paste images into the body of the email. Do it as an attached file, and the original resolution should be maintained. >Alan

You're right. I am only asked this when I send something via my iPhone not when I send a picture from my Windows 10 desktop. It must be some kind of interaction between Gmail and the Apple Mail app.

I have the iPhone SE and previously had the 5s. On both phones, when sending images
there is a choice of resolutions after you touch "Send.". If you choose "original" size,
the photo will be received in full resolution.

Thanks for clarifying. Makes sense. I also have an iPhone. It's the IOS software that provides the choice, not Gmail.
