Re read your first sentence in your first reply.

Sounds like you are another one of those narcissistic bullies. Your very first words were very demeaning. 7 posts and you are already trying to dictate what type of topic should or should not be discussed? Give me a break!

Your post was rude and insulting. But in a typical narcissistic fashion, that you don’t realize.

Considering what you wrote in your response to the OP, it is you who brings down this forum. Look in the mirror pal!

Like Gandhi used to say - be the change you want to see in the world.

You’re entitled to your opinion of course. I will post on whatever thread I choose to. I don’t need your permission. I’m allowed to contribute to a discussion. Would you like to clarify in which areas I “need all the help (I) can get?” Consider in your response that I am a new member here and have not yet posted any images. For all you know I may be excellent at what I do. Or I may be rubbish. But your comment is needlessly insulting and rude. You’re actually one of the people on this forum that brings it down, and frankly inspires negative responses like mine here. I’ve read the forum for a long time and have seen a lot of nastiness here. It’s unnecessary. Opinion is one thing. Insults are just bullying. Please let’s all try and keep it civil.

Yes, we are all entiled to our opinion. Jumping someone's case is not an opinion, it is being a jerk.....as Thomas said, if you don't like the thread, don't read it.

Sorry for being a jerk. Now can we stop the name calling and get back on topic please? No one has actually countered my opinion, people have just insulted me and called me names. Maybe I should have handled my initial post here differently. But that does NOT give anyone the right to call me names. Those who have are actually bullies. You think I’m rude? Look at your responses.

Please leave your ego at the door.

YOU still don’t get it. We have simply called you on your demeaning first post to this thread starter.

Yes you were very rude to the OP.

Who put you in charge to decide whether this thread was worthy?

Do you want people to be respectful towards you? You’ll get it when you start being respectful to others.

I’m going to say this again: this is a very typical behavior narcissistic personalities portray.

Are you seeing similar replies from me to other posters in this thread? Why do you think that is?

I tell you why. Because the other posts were respectful.

I was very surprised when I read your reply and I felt that you were way out of line. I find it very interesting that you think it is ok to insult and belittle another member on their choice of topic, yet when you were called out for your behavior you are immediately get on the defensive.

Yes, you should have handled yourself differently and no one would have said anything to you.

I think you have a hard time putting yourself in another person’s shoes. That is lack of empathy. Unfortunately that isn’t something that you can learn, but you can always remember to try to treat another, the way you would like to be treated. Very simple.

Now enjoy the games today.

To the op. Based on some of the feedback I’ve had, I would like to apologise if I have come across as rude to you. It was not intentional, and I should have handled myself differently. Sorry your thread has turned into what it has.

Well, here we go again.

In 2007, four years later, I had upgraded my "pocket camera" to a Sony W-1, a 5-mgp camera. I know ... but you said this was about 3 megapixels. What gives?

My wife and I decided to celebrate our 40th anniversary by going the the British Isles and visiting more ancestral villages (they were poor too). I had just bought the camera ... will I ever learn ... and was too cheap to buy a second sony memory stick (heck they were expensive back then), so I decided to take all the pictures at 3 megapixels to save memory space. Sometimes I think my brain just does not work very well !!! Or maybe I just need decision matrix training.

So attached are a few shots, again in different light settings, to see if 3 mgp was viable. Obviously, if I had used 5 mgp, the clarity would be better.

Again, this is not about my pictures, but really a discussion about how much quality do we really need.

.

Please share your conclusions and or strongly held opinions on the topic. Thanks.

I'm still using a D100, 6 megapixels, always done good up to 13x19 print. That as big my printer prints. But then also how fine can an R1800 printer print. But looking forward to a D700. Don't care to go any bigger.

I like your humor lazy photographer. Crop away, makes sense since at my 6mgpixs I'm remitted at cropping and fixing stuff for my pictures. People talk about how big are you printing without how much are you cropping. I print up to 13x19 and get away with it, can't do much more with it. You just run out of pixels. So in my case and zize of print the more pixels the camera is the more elbow room.

This is a good read, not based on uninformed or poorly informed opinion, myths or urban legend - it uses the scientific rationale that takes into consideration the acuity of human vision at various distances, will tell you what you "need"
