Help! Pop up Google scam page killing my access to UHH

Over the last few days, every time I visit the newest topics page with Safari on my IPad, there’s a blank box where there’s usually an ad between posts, and immediately, the following Pop-up fills the screen:

Congratulations!
Google User!
You've been selected as a winner for the free $1000 Walmart Giftcard, iPhone X 256G or Samsung Galaxy S8!
Please click OK to claim your prize before we give it away to somebody else.

When you close the window, a new window with a URL of V3x1.pw pops up, and even if you close that window, it immediately recurs, making access to UHH impossible. In the past, restarting the IPad has temporarily eliminated the problem, but now, that doesn’t work. Of course, I have pop-up blocker enabled, and I’ve tried restricting access to this URL without success. I have no idea whether this is specific to my browser or a problem with the UHH site, but it’s making it impossible to browse new topics in UHH. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have an idea for a work-around. Copying admin just in case it’s a site issue. It only occurs on UHH.

Consider removing UHH and then reinstall

Thanks PixelStan, but it’s not an ap, UHH is just a page I access via Safari, or maybe I’m misunderstanding?

You're right UUH is a web page, not an app.
Have you tried another browser?

Remove it as the App and shutdown. Boot up and sign in to UHH

I had this exact issue several months ago. It became so aggravating that I finally PM'd Admin. They took care of it almost immediately. Don't know exactly what they did, but it hasn't recurred. Hope I'm not jinxing myself by saying that.

Good luck. I feel for you!

Sign out, reboot, then sign back in. Worked on a site once for me.

Thanks for all the help guys. I haven’t tried it with a different browser - I’m almost afraid to open the page on my main PC (Firefox) until I know what it is. I don’t care if my IPad is trashed - I can rebuild it easily from ICloud, but my PCs (which are on a different subnet) are a different matter - much more trouble. I’m hoping admin can address this if it’s site-specific.

Same issue, different message. Only happens on my phone in Chrome. Freshly installed Firefox is unaffected so far...

Nothing is going to happen unless you click any link or button they send. Just don't open anything. If I'm not mistaken the message itself is harmless, but if you happen to download anything you might get in trouble.

I had the same problem. Last time it happened with another persistent pop up, I bought ADDS OFF and PHISHING OFF from the App Store. They work! I had them turned off when this latest one hit. PHISHING OFF blocked it - problem gone.

Unfortunately the message is directly in the center of the screen, and it locks the screen so you can’t scroll down past it (at least on my IPad). My guess is that it’s browser specific - not sure if you can install a different browser on an IPad other than Safari - will have to look.
