Multi-part (part 1 here now) Expert Review of Photo Processing Software. Good Read
As everyone knows, there are many folks who are upset for various reasons, with Adobe, as well as others who provide processing software. There have been many , many questions and many opinions given.
The purpose of this post is not to discuss this, it has been beaten to death already. I do want to share a link I saw just this morning, where someone who knows much more than I do, and perhaps some of you as well, who has taken it on to review the most popular, report back after use and to rate them not only as to which he likes, but to rate them as to which might be best for the beginner processor as well as for the intermediate processor.
The following link is the first in a series:
https://www.digitalphotomentor.com/photo-editing-software/?ck_subscriber_id=132361485#summaryPerhaps this will be of assistance to those who are trying to find the best route for themselves.
When you include promotions for a product you are reviewing you lose credibility ... big time. It's a shame because the conclusions may be valid. They should have left this out!
"I wanted to offer a special incentive to my readers who may be interested in getting Luminar. They were nice enough to provide a $10 off discount coupon."
---
I am not impressed with the results.
Thanks for posting this. I'm sure many will find it valuable.

WOW! I do not think I have ever seen such a cooked review! Yeah, he was doing this for the money IMHO.
Bad review and very bias.

I notice the reviewer did not address Capture One Pro. The article involved a lot of work on the author's part, but I can't help suspecting it was intended to promote Luminar. Clue: at the end of the article, there is a link to Luminar, but not to any other application. (I don't have anything against Luminar, I own it as well as Lr/Ps, Capture One Pro 11, DxO Photo Lab, and OnOne Raw 2018.)

Another clue is that, while he mentions in the review of LR/PS that you get constant updates and seems to think that is important, it does not appear in the comparison chart. His last quick poll asks what you use, includes LR but not PS. His beginner vs intermediate rating is absolutely pulled out of his a**.
I had not read the entire review. I agree with the comments of a biased review

I made this comment before, do the research, Adobe Products were never created for photographers, Photo Shop is an ideal software and Light Room became the next generation for photographers, use what ever product you want but the Adobe suite was created as a seamless integrated product for the graphic arts industry which included photographers, layout designers, print publishers and Typography at all levels and with Photo Premier you could seamlessly move Photo shop documents in a movie environment. In-Design has replaced Page-Maker for layout publican and printing design because it was easier to move and change images at will in In-Design that you couldn't do in Page-maker. So please stop comparing Adobe with other digital-photo software. Adobe was a stand alone package for the industry not for photographers, Adobe Illustrator is a perfect example, the word illustrate doesn't translate to traditional illustration, you can do amazing images in Illustrator, but Illustrator is actually a really good design tool and the scaling ability, because it is a fractal geometry format, is superior to pixel images, OK. SO ENJOY PHOTOSHOP OR WHAT EVER FORMAT YOU USE, BUT AT LEAST GET THE STORY STRAIT!
Sounds like you have a beef with the group. Since this is not a graphic arts design group or a web building group, we can talk about Photoshop any which way as it pertains to photography.

I don't have a beef with anyone in this group, I'm more up to speed, I use 3D figurative constructions because I have more control over the human figure, I don't do portraiture anymore, I
I don't do portraiture anymore, I don't enjoy working with individuals, as far as "uglyhedgehog" is concerned, I have only added constructive opinions so I will be cancelling my site, I don't need this crap, if you can't accept constructive advise, that's not my problem. I know a hell of a lot about Adobe Products, so I will end with that comment, I don't need this site to continue my work. I have also worked in the architectural environment where Adobe Products are very use-full, and I'm a throw back the the old publishing world so I know a great deal about all of the advancements in the printing technology right up to the present, I am totally amazed at the transition. So this site will never hear from me again!
So why are you throwing your experience with other forms of Adobe products at a forum that is devoted to photography? I don't understand, I would have thought you joined the group because of an interest in photography. You take comments very personally, everyone here has an opinion and as the old saying goes "opinions are like ass holes everyone has one".
