Tamron 18-270 VC causing blury pictures

Hello,

Has anyone encountered similar issues?

All my pictures with VC on are blurry.
Any object, any conditions, any settings. It's just impossible to get a decent image out of it.
This lens was purchased brand new from BB about a year and half ago and not really used much. VC worked fine back then, it looks like this started happening a while ago and gradually gets worse over the time.
I tried to clean up the contacts, took a bunch of test pictures with and without VC and now I'm thinking about sending it back to Tamron and see if they can do something about it.

I should probably clarify that I'm talking about handheld photos, fast shutter speeds, anything that can be cleaned is clean, other lenses on this body don't show any similar issues, I don't think it's camera shake (I can do better at 600mm and 1/250), I simply tried to eliminate all other things that might possibly cause these photos to be out of focus. There is no front or back focusing, it's the same all over the images.

Is there anything I should try before I put it in the box and ship it away?
Anything I might be missing or not knowing about?

Thanks.

And you say that when you first got this lends it was better?
That seems like a.large crop, (something I would do-cause I'm learning ) What is the lenses mounted on?
Can you post an image with the same distance, zoom and crop?

"... I'm talking about handheld photos, fast shutter speeds, ..."

VC does not work at fast shutter speeds. At close to 1/500 turn it off. Test it at 1/100 or slower.

I will try, most of my shots were 1/350, 1/500, later I tried to switch to higher shutter speeds to make sure it's no the motion blur. Thank you fro the tip!

I have included an original photo and the crop to show the unwanted effects. It's D5500 + Tamron 18‑270mm F/3.5‑6.3 Di II VC PZD.

I have the same lens for Canon. It's resting in a drawer, hoping I don't throw it out. It seems to have a reputation for soft focus as I have seen more than one mention of the same issue here at UHH.
It's a heavy lens to just limit it useful range to 100mm, and maybe still not be happy with the result.

I feel the same way. It is soft. Very soft. But it wasn't always this bad...
To me this lens seems pretty small-ish and light enough (for this kind of zoom) for hiking and similar activities. It was the only option for the football game, because they have a lot of restrictions there and one of them is the physical size of the lens you can bring, which was the only reason why this lens saw the daylight after a while...

All the way across the field is blurred, but behind all this the fans and banners are in better focus. If you are letting the camera select the focusing point you will continue to have results like this. Choose a Single focus point and place this over the area that you want in focus.

It's like that on all photos, nothing is sharp. Single focus point selected if I remember well.
But I should add that it does not happen with VC OFF or at least not so noticeable.

Before you send the lens for repairs talk to Tamron. Explain to them what is going on. Keep in mind that VR will never stop motion except that of your own hands.

Good point, thank you!
I understand what you're saying about the motion, but this happens in all situations, no matter what the subject is. I get the same blur on buildings on a bright day too...
It has never been my favorite lens, but it got much worse lately, way out of focus. Images taken while using tripod and VC off are acceptable.
It almost makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong, but I don't see anything like this happening with other lenses.
