Would I benefit from a SanDisk Extreme Pro 300MB/S Read And 260MB/S on my D7200, or is 95 MB/S more than enough.
Thanks

That SD card would probably be proper for a D7100. The D7200 has a better buffer than the D7100. 95 megabytes is sufficient for your D7200. I use Class 10 SD cards, and they work fine on all my digital cameras.

I have to agree with mas24. At 24mp, I can't imagine that 95 MB/S would be a problem. But, hey, I've never had a speeding ticket, either.

You could certainly download images faster to your computer IF you have a fast enough card reader and port (USB 3.1?) to take advantage of the advertised 300MB/sec read speed, but I doubt the 7200 can write faster than the 95MB/sec version (if that), so no benefit there. If anyone has this combination and tests it, let us know... you might find this interesting: https://alikgriffin.com/best-memory-card-for-the-nikon-d7200/ the tests in this article show that the D7200 writes at about 30MB/sec. max.

I shoot with the 95 on my D500 at 10 frames a second and it has not let me down yet. I would say the 300 is overkill for your D7200.

Thanks for the replies, think I'll stick with the 95's.

I use the 95 MB/s in a D7200 and a D500 with no problem.

I do not shoot video and don't know if the higher speed might help there. I have noticed that cards now have a video rating.

The simple answer for me after much testing in my cameras is No! The D7200 is compatible with SD HC I or SD HC II cards but because of its internal USB 2 data bus is not capable of utilizing the higher read/write speeds of the higher performance SD HC II cards such as the SanDisk Extreme Pro 300MB/S (read speed) 260MB/s (write speed). The same situation applies to the higher capacity SD XC I and SD XC II cards. Again the D7200 can use either card type but cannot utilize the higher read/write speeds proviced by the series II cards. If you examine the back of series II cards and compare that card with the series I card you will find the series II cards have a double row of electrical contacts, whereas the series I card has only one row of electrical contacts. To make use of both rows of contacts and hence the higher throughput of the series II card the camera, in this case the D7100/D7200 camera, would require double rows of contacts in the card slots along with an internal USB 3 data bus which neither camera has.
However, if your computer is equipped with a USB 3.1 card reader then yes, you will see a benefit in download speed when using a series II SD card.

I have both the Nikon D7200 and an Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mk11 and have tested both the SanDisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s SD HC I (32GB) card and the SanDisk Extreme Pro 300MB/s SD HC II (32GB) card in my Nikon D7200 camera and found there is for practical purposes no benefit to using the higher performance series II card in the Nikon D7200. However, there is a significant difference when I run the same test using the two same series I and series II cards in my Olympus camera. The performance of the series II card in my Olympus camera does provide me with longer bursts of continuous shooting before the buffer fills when compared to the series I card.

Nikon recommends a series I card for use in the D7200, while Olympus recommends a series II card in the E-M10 Mk11.

I am no camera/electronics expert, therefore I have not performed testing in a laboratory type environment, I am simply reporting my own experience with SanDisk SD cards of both types in my particular camera bodies. Your mileage may vary!

Check your camera's manual. The camera hardware and software are what limit image transfer speed from the sensor to the SD card. Nikon doesn't recommend cards faster than the camera can support because customers would be irate if they found out they had spent significantly more money on something that provided no additional value.
