Got my early Christmas gift today. I Nikon 70-300 vr. It is the first time I've tried vr....SUPER COOL.
I also got a second D200 for $48 at Goodwill that works really good

O man
In point of fact my wife already made me do it. But I needed to test the lens in case we needed to return it....that's my story and I'm stickin' to it

Those are the gifts that keep on giving. Enjoy. And, keep on shooting until the end.

You can dream of those telephoto shots for the next 3 weeks.

With VR is it's best if you can do a half-press on the shutter button for about 1 second before pressing the shutter button all the way down. It gives the VR time to start working completely. You probably do this already since the camera has autofocus.

Good deal on that camera. Check the shutter count and let us know.

Get Irfanview (free) and also get the plug-ins for it. Start the program, open a photo, click on Image > Information > Exif info. Or you can just press I and/or E to get lots of info.
Get ExifInfo - also free. Unzip and get the icon onto the Desktop. Find a photo and drag it onto the icon. A window will open with loads of info. Look down the list for Shutter Count (or whatever they call it).

Good deal on that camera. Check the shutter count... (show quote)

A little over 62,000. Gives me a little life since I rarely take more than 1000 a month. My other D200 has 24,000+
