https://www.creative-photographer.com/five-things-photographic-composition/Interesting article, I like the section on the rule of thirds.
Personally I as a photographer think of myself as an artist and as such I can break the rules to suite my vision.
I am not trying to start an argument but just some thought. Everyone has his or her opinion on any given subject. So what is yours?
cheers ron
Good article...food for thought.
Ron,
I'm my own worst critic ... I seldom share my photos but I do hang the ones I like ... and, I do think it is important to know the rules that we are breaking ...

It is important to know WHY you are breaking A rule (Not rules plural) and what advantages that will give you.
To do that, you need to have seen other 'well respected' photographer's work in similar circumstances. To copy a 'style' that works is intent rather than fancy.
It is way too easy to quote ' rules are made for breaking' simply because you didn't think before you shot.
With the internet, we have so many junk images: Yet 'great composition' is still regarded as the hallmark of success and 'professionalism'.
Have fun
