I have had two friends restore really old houses. It really would have been better and easier to build a new house. You could say "this house has good bones" - but the "bones" aren't plumb anymore and the floors aren't level and it is difficult to replace doors and windows until you lift up the house and put a new foundation under it and even then you have to replace all the plumbing and electrical, and then the roof, and the floors are badly damaged from the rain that leaked in, and................
