Just South of the line between Volusia and Brevard counties lies the gateway to the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Of all of the wildlife in the area, the Manatees draw the most attention. This spot along the Haulover Canal is a favorite for watching Manatees. The Canal is also part of the Inracoastal Waterway so you will see boats and Kayaks. The water is cloudy so I used a polarizing filter.

Thank you Heather. They are very gentle for their size.
Nice shots. Was just there watching nine or more working the little cove to the left of the walkway.

I saw them, but I didn't get a sharp picture of them. I think the female on her back was nursing, but I didn't see the calves.
Nice set and think that I was at that location a few years ago.

Thanks Swamp-Cork. You may have been there. It is a very popular spot especially at this time of year when it is cooler.

Yes, and believe the time period was late February/early March, but we didn't get any very good shots!

You never know until you get there if they are going to pose for you. If there are fresh greens close to the shore, you will probably have a better chance to get some good shots.
