Morning Fellow UHH'ers!

I thought that I had the big three (ISO, shutter speed and fstops) under my belt. I was feeling like a light finally went off for me and that it had all come together because I can be shooting in manual, look at the image I just took on my preview screen and actually know what to adjust to fix any issues I might be seeing. Or so I thought...

A huge majority of my images are over saturated. Because I don't really see that on the preview screen, I'm not sure what I'm doing when they aren't over saturated to know what the proper fix might be.

So here comes the stupid question: what "setting" is it that can help me control the over saturation? Is it a combo of the three that I finally thought I had figured out? Is it white balance?

I shoot with a Canon T3i and have two lenses - a Sigma 18-250 and a Canon 85mm prime. Regardless of which lens I am using, my images are over saturated. I know it's not my monitor because I have viewed them on three different ones. So at this point, I spend a lot of extra time in PS fixing the oversaturation, wishing I could figure out how to do it right in camera.

Any help at all would be appreciated, and I thank you in advance for reading and possibly assisting.

I would attach an image as an example but I am at work right now (shhhh, don't tell my boss) without access to my photo libraries. If an image truly is needed to help identify, I can do that when I get home.

Thanks again,
Belle

Yes, it would help if you post an image and allowed download.
There is usually a saturation control in the menu.
I am at home right now and don't have access to the Canon at work.

thanks GoofyNewfie - I will upload one when I zip home for lunch. I will check for a saturation menu - don't recall seeing one, but that certainly doesn't mean it's not there. :)

GoofyNewfie - here are a couple of samples that are "colorful" :) and what I was referring to regarding saturation.

I'm not a pro, but number 1 and 3 have great lighting and are sharp. To me they are not oversaturated at all, they are good. The color is vibrant.

They look good to me and I am on a smart phone at work. Lol The green grass looks great wish we had that here in AR. All we have is brown grass. Unless the child hair is actually brown and not red I don't see a problem.

My wife would see the red hair an an advantage.
Sadly, my beard comes in chrome now.

tk - thanks much for commenting, I guess maybe it's just my old eyes seeing them as too bright? That could very well be...I was seeing the greens as way to saturated, but maybe vibrant is the word I will go with instead, I like it. :)

thanks for checking for me - as I said to tk above, it's quite possibly just my eyes then!

And red and chrome match well, those are the colors on my motorcycle :)

Hey there 77firebird, thank you for looking and for letting me know they do look okay...I am clearly just not seeing them the same way everybody else does. Which is good in this situation. LOL

And yes, very bright red, not brown!

On a Canon you can change picture to see which you like. On my xsi I have nine different settings to choose from.Change styles and see which on you like.

thanks Old Timer - my picture style stays in Portrait most of the time, which shouldn't contribute to the vividness of the colors, but I will check it again - thanks!

A white balance of cloudy and/or shade, and an increase in the vivid setting in the menu can contribute to over-saturation. Only you know what the scene looks like and if the colors are the same or near the same as shot. Your colors look pretty good on my monitor.

The first two are over-exposed, which will certainly make them look brighter.
