Don't worry, the animals are there someplace. You just need patience, patience, patience.

The recent passing of Hurricane Irma has added to the uncertainties of all these venues ......

Green Cay is minimal at the moment, birds are roosting early morning and late afternoon, Wakodahatchee is also minimal at the moment, a few blue heron's building nests. These spots will pick up in January through April. March is a great time for new born's.

Usually any place around water and vegetation. Went out Saturday and found a few egrets, blue heron, etc. Early in morning or around 5 in the evening. Remember, it is almost dark at 6. We live in Okeechobee, so plenty of water and wildlife. Like others have said, patience!

I'm in FL now - Viera is slooooowwww, but Merritt Island NWR was fantastic this AM. Huge concentration of great egrets, snowys, spoonbills, tri-colors, little blues, ibis, etc. They were all about a mile or so in this AM feeding. Not sure if it was just a one time thing, but not too bad IMO. If you venture further west Circle B isn't too bad right now either.

Circle B is still a little wet and some areas are still closed as of 2 weeks ago. Merrit Island is hit or miss, has always been that way, not to mention distance to birds. Always a sure thing would be Ding Darling NP near Sanibel, but you Have to hit Low Tide early mourning for the best, same with Merrit Island. If you want to have a killer trip I would wait till nesting season. Water is still way high for this time of year, North Florida is still draining thru central Florida from the hurricane. The higher the water the less concentrated the feeder fish for birds feeding in the fresh water. Salt water is best because you can work the tides. . Burrowing owls are a sure thing down in Cape Coral, Marco Island. PM you phone # can talk if you want. I use a 400mm lens, so always looking to get close to birds. I'm central to gulf coast florida.
