A few photos from the 2017 North Fork Championship held on the Payette River in Idaho. These waters are some of the highest ranked rapids in the United States. It's an invitational competition and there are racers here from all over the world.

Frank the first image is literally surreal...
Beautifully composed, fantastically executed...
The other are very good...
Your D500 works well with both the 80-400mm and 70-200mm albeit the first image was the work of the 70-200mm and is by far and away the most spectacular of the series...
btw, looks like way too much fun for those paddlers...
Back east this is water only to dream of...
I've paddled the Youghiogheny River in western Maryland at 3 feet above flood stage (rated class V) but it can't hold a candle to Payette River. I'm soooo jealous... lol
