My brother used to hunt any small game he could and wanted mom to cook them up....yeah, like that would happen.

Did he outgrow that or become a hunter?

Laetiporus (Chicken of the Woods) is the name of your fungi. It is quite edible and tastes like chicken. Great shot!

Thank you! Where were you when I found these? There were several. How do you prepare them? I love mushrooms but don't know enough to harvest and cook them. Been a little dry lately but usually have a lot of different ones. I live in a woodsy area and whatever grows here lives here.

Hunter, trapper, got an elk with a flintlock. Family always said he was born 100 years too late. Diabetes took him at age 45...miss him.

Sautéed in butter. As they get older they can get tough. I don’t normally eat many species because many edibles look very similar. I buy mine at market.

Thank you. I may try them from a store. We have so much to eat from the land and don't know how to do it. What a shame.

Thank you twice. Don't know why but I like frogs. This guy sat and watched me shoot him.

Yes, we miss the ones who leave first. It sounds like he enjoyed the time he had here.
