Last night (at the last minute) I noticed a great sunset. I grabbed the camera (D80, kit 18 - 55 lens, auto setting) and started capturing. #1 is SOOC saved as a jpeg. #2 is my PP (cropping, tweaking color, saturation, etc.).
So, technicians, artists and casual clickers of UHH, how would you do it? (a description of your PP steps would be appreciated)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
I would clone out the flagpole on the left, and crop the house silhouette to just below the sharp dip on the left. and, straighten the image, the rooflines are crooked. Other than that, I love the colors.
This proves you can take a GREAT photograph with a kit lens.
First off, I would have tilted my camera up to capture more sky and less foreground. Probably more frames left & right for a stitched panorama, too. Your colors look good to me.
Happy thanksgiving to you & yours, too.

#1 Straighten.
I would try two different scenes. I like the buildings as well as the sky so, on one scene I would crop the sky to accent the buildings and try exposing the buildings slightly more. One the second scene I also would take out the flagpole, crop to less roof line to make the sky the subject.
The colors are beautiful, though, and I might have tried to bring out a little (a touch) more blue in the sky/clouds. But I sure commend you on a wonderful catch and proving, as stated above, great pics can be taken with not so profound equipment (my cameras are the same era as yours). Good job
Straighten it using ''Faststone image viewer'' Mike,it's a freebie which is dead easy to use and in my humble opinion is leave it as it is after the straightening bit.Nice shot.

Thanks for the comments. I concentrated so much on the colors that I forgot about basics. Happy Thanksgiving!

I moved down the block for better sky shots, but you are correct. Thanks for taking the time. Happy Thanksgiving!

I should have known that the pride of the UK photography group would be "on the cutting edge". I still like the new avatar. Happy Thanksgiving!
BTW I originally intended to download the SOOC shot so anyone interested could apply their PP ideas. I evidently failed and I cannot. figure out how to remedy my error. Sorry!

Well Angler, I probably should download my raw files to you. Do you have monthly rates LOL? Tonight is another stunner, if I have time I may take another crack at this.
