Enhancement programs.
Are these programs worth buying? I'm seeing a lot of pro's using them, and some seem to be too much.
If by "enhancement programs" you are referring to editing software like Topaz, Luminar and Nik, just to mention some of them, my answer is yes they are worth buying.
I use Topaz Adjust 5 very often and just bought Luminar. When using these editors keep in mind that presets and many of the effects they produce could look unnatural. My tendency is to cut down the effect till to my eyes the file looks natural.
These softwares can many times rescue files that otherwise would be useless.
I use two plugins daily.
1. Google Nik
2. Perfectly Clear
look into luminancehdr, gimp, and darktable. They are free so it won't hurt you. These are the only programs I use. There ar windowa versions of all these programs.
for gimp and raw processing you will have to install the ufraw plugin. I can't help you install it as my system is Linux.
Enhancements? Look into what is post processing.....not the same.
If a lot of pros use them, they must be good.

I like On1.
This is why. Image started in Lightroom, then finished using On1.
You be the judge if it is worth it.

Are which programs worth buying? What would be your reason for obtaining one? What computer are you using and how old is it? Are you willing to spend the time and effort to learn this software, which can be a significant commitment of time. And finally what exactly do you mean by too much? What camera and model do you use, and do you shoot in raw or jpeg?

Thanks! I think it is a good advertisement for On1 Software, and hopefully informs the OP's question.

Enhancement of...
You mean one-click photo enhancement? Many standard processing programs offer something like that, but I never use it.

To me, I think the enhanced version is a tad overdone.
