The mini, micro piece of paper that came with the unit is, to say the least. COMPLETELY INADEQUATE.

I've looked around a bit in the webs and am not finding anything specific to my little problem.

So I am here, once again, relying on my fellow Hoggers, to help me out.

I am aiming to have TTL wirelessly from the camera to the remote flash.

Thanks in advance.

One BIG help, read the manuals that came with your stuff. If it is meaningless as you imply, go on line and read the on line manual. These exist you know...

I found one if about 30 seconds using my dear undervalued friend named Google.

Thanks Rongnongo. I did look for a support site but didn't run across one right away. Probably should have spent another ten minutes on it but ran out of time.

I have the Yongnuo 685 Flash, and also the Transceiver ... and have used it on my d850. I did not have to set anything special on the D850, just made sure the channels were the same on the 685 and the 622 Transceiver and the that 685 was set at 622R.Slave. I mixed a little bit of help from the manual, with some experimentation to get it to work. Once you have those settings, hold the test button down for about 5 seconds, then release. When all is set right, the flash will fire.

You may want to check You Tube. They have many instructional videos, that have a lot of stuff related to cameras and flashes, etc. I saw one on a Yongnuo Flash and wireless for a Nikon. Check for a Canon flash though. Good luck.

You have committed a sin. How dare you put a Yongnuo flash on a new $3300 D850. Just kidding. I happen to own a Yongnuo too. But, I have mine on a DX camera. Actually, the Yongnuo #685 has been compared to Nikon's SB-910.

Well, technically speaking, it is then the yongnuo transceiver that is actually attached to the D850. (OK, so the 685 has been allowed on the D850 as well, even if it is from the wrong side of the tracks). :)

I had the same problem and had to get the help of a friend. The manual is printed so small that my seeing eye dog had a problems. Went to you tube and found a great link for the flash and tranmitter. One thing that has to be done is that the id on both units have to be the same. by default main were set at 0000.
Have fun and don't flash anyone.

I found a great YouTube video on this unit for my D7000 and Nikon TTL flash. Watched it before I purchased and it was very easy to set up after that. There are several videos, you just have to wade through them to find the best one. Yes, the flash's manual is just about worthless.

Hey,

I have a very similar setup that I use with my 7DmkII. when I first turned on my flashes, they did not connect to the transmitter. When I looked into it, the flash would not connect because the default for the flash is no trigger. It supports both the 622c and 503 triggers. You have to tell the flash which you are using then it should work with TTL with no issues.

Regards,
Willie

From Guy... Need help with the YN565EX II to a Canon T5. The manual is poor with compatibility issues. Would like a set of instructions for the interconnection of the camera and the flash. What is available?
Thank you

"COMPLETELY INADEQUATE" is probably the nicest thing you could say about their documentation.

Guy...I have gathered from the very thin operational data that the slave or off camera flash will strike if the units are set to S1 or S2 for a synchronized shitter signal. My testing has proven this to work. The real question is the camera settings and I will learn this from further experimental examples. The PRO'S are laughing at this conversation ill bet.

I totally agree with instructional videos on YouTube. Although Ron may have meant well by pushing the manual, personally the visual aspect of the act rather than text is exponentially more useful.

I FINALLY got the flash to work with my Canon 80D! I have no idea how, it was trial and error.

I am baffled by the interface and the complete lack of documentation for the flash unit. (I did find documentation for the trigger.)

I hope, when I change the batteries, that I won't have to do it all over again.
