There are a number of third party lenses manufacturers that make lenses. However, the most esteemed seem to be the Tamron and Sigma presently. Tokina's 24-70mm f2.8 is praised too, and is less than the Tamron and Sigma. I saw a video on comparisons of the big three competitors of the 24-70mm f2.8, by pro photographer Matt Granger. He said the Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 is #1, the Canon #2, and the Tamron #3. And that Tamron was not the G2 version on that Video. Assuming that the G2 is better than the previous version, I can understand why it is rated slightly higher than the Sigma 24-70mm, from this F-Stoppers article. But this doesn't mean all Tamron lenses are better than Sigma's. Each has certain premium lenses. I think all Sigma's Art lenses are still excellent.

I didn't say all Tamron lenses were better than Sigma lenses, and the reviewer in the original post didn't say that either. The Sigma 24-70mm is an ART Lens. Here is another review of the Sigma compared to Canon, Nikon, and the old Tamron 24-70, not the G2 version. Lens Rental was not impressed all that much with the Sigma 24-70mm.
I own the Sigma 35mm ART and love it, so I am not bashing Sigma at all, just posting the review of various 24-70mm lenses for those that may be interested in buying that zoom range lens.
