This is who we are

An interesting 2-minute video by James Fallows
who writes for "The Atlantic" magazine.
He argues that mass shootings will inevitably continue
in the United States because the citizens have decided
"This is who we are".

If Europe is dealing with its massacres and mass shootings better than the United States as this guy says, then why do they have just as many mass killings per capita as we do.

Some links might clarify things. My search found we're second only to Yemen, a war zone, in mass shootings per capita.

The only country with more mass shootings per capita than the US

THE country with the highest rate per capita of mass shootings in the world is not where many people might expect it to be.

Mass shootings is a slightly murky area to get data on. They usually define it as a shooting that kills four or more people. Some websites exclude terrorist attacks from their data. Your website did not define it at all and was careful to only include "countries with at least ten million people." Thus, they excluded all the European Countries with a higher death rate from mass shootings than the United States - Norway, Serbia, Macedonia, Albania, Slovakia, Switzerland, and Finland. Still, I don't know why they ignore France, Belgium and the Czech Republic, who all have higher mass shooting death rates than the U.S.

https://crimeresearch.org/2015/06/comparing-death-rates-from-mass-public-shootings-in-the-us-and-europe/

I've seen websites that consider the recent Las Vegas shooting to be the second largest mass public shooting in World History, next to the one in Norway, and others that say it is only the 14th largest since 1970. Who to trust?

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2017/10/02/gun-control-in-europe-is-almost-total-it-hasnt-stopped-mass-shooting-attacks-like-las-vegas.html

I previously thought that it was only in terms of "mass killings" that Europe was approximately tied with the U.S. but not in "firearms" mass killings alone, because there are more bombings in Europe. The recent French truck massacre killed 80 people. These websites are saying that Europe is tied with us in just the "firearms" mass killings alone.

We get the impression that all the violence happens in the U.S. because we have 24 hour news and the rest of the World follows U.S. news above all others. When some poor bastards get killed in Macedonia or Albania, nobody pays attention, let alone hears about it.
