Very poignant shots.... Those sad eyes mesmerized me....
My parents used to take me to zoos, but as I got much older, it pained me to see animals caged up just for entertainment.
I totally agree. It's said.

Right. I seldom click on zoo shots here.

Caged up for juts entertainment?
If it were not for Zoos how many of these animal would be extinct now?
While the animals do provide entertainment they also make people aware of their plight.

"Fantastic images".... If looking at sad eyes in a cage turn you on....
In this day and age, zoos should be shut down, there are conservation areas to protect endangered species. I volunteer at the Department of Lands and Forests, and I've got experience with animal behavior. Now, don't get me started with circuses and rodeos. I don't want to see a Bear riding a bicycle, nor
a Lion jumping through hoops because someone with a chair and a whip orders it. What about "Marineland"? Huge aquatic mammals swimming around in a pool, instead of traveling free.
This guy was at a animal sanctuary along with many other animals that have been neglected. He was energetic and engaged with this buddies. I took this pic when he came up to me while I was talking to him. It was as if we had a connection as we were looking right at each other. Considering the alternative he was well kept along with all the other animals.
I also think these photos serve a purpose - A conversion piece as we all have different points of view.
- If the pic was angry showing his teeth, what would the persecution be? Keep this wild beast locked up?
- These photo's were a snap in time as his expression changed often.
- Was he caged for our enjoyment?
- Was he saved from our enjoyment?
- Who's enjoyment mine or yours?
- The same expression as a homeless man...?
- In my humble opinion, a good photo makes one wounder what's going on as the comments indicate.
Regards
Great photo. Looking into his eyes they appear to be very sad and saying, "Let me out of here. I want to be free." Seeing that he is now in a sanctuary, I'm sure he is better off than where he was. Mahalo for sharing.
Great shots of a handsome fellow. That may be his getting angry, or slightly bored look, even though he looks sad to humans.
If you had tried to touch him you might have a better idea of what the look meant.
never do that in the wild with monkeys or apes. Looking into eyes is a direct threat and may evoke a dangerous response! safe here, of course, behind bars. good shots.
